About this speaker

Ed Houghton is a behavioural systems researcher who specialises in ethical design approaches for new technologies and AI. Ed oversees social research for DG Cities, an innovation company set up by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to support public sector innovation and technology adoption. Ed's previous work includes leading Defining AI Assurance and Governance (2024) for the Department for Science Innovation and Technology / Responsible Technology Adoption Unit, overseeing the delivery of community engagement for the Innovate UK funded Project Endeavour trial of self-driving vehicles in the UK, and delivering participatory research for Ethical Roads, funded by the Rees Jeffries Road Fund. Ed is passionate about evidence-based policy making, and participatory methods. Ed is also a Non-Executive Director for Public Voice, and community-interest company specialising in participatory research.
