Empowered Project Managers: Adopting GenAI to Maximize Value in Project Management
A Talk by Francisco Cordero (Agile Coach & Delivery Advisor, NTT Data)
About this Talk
This session explores how Generative AI (GenAI) can be adopted to increase the value delivered through project management—not by replacing human expertise, but by augmenting it. We’ll begin by examining the challenge of managing complex, fast-moving projects where tools often fall short, and project leaders are overwhelmed by repetitive tasks. We’ll argue that real transformation comes not only from better technology, but from rethinking roles, empowering internal change agents, and driving cultural change.
As an internal consultant and project manager, my mission is to develop solutions that enable teams to maximize business results. I'll share my personal journey to define a strategy for GenAI adoption for the project manager role.
We'll explore the first steps for implementation through a 'Train-the-Trainer' strategy and the capabilities required to develop for this new role based on:
• Empowering internal change agents
• Propose a model to identify the first adoption cases in project management and how to classify them
• Develop key competences to the role that helps scaling the initiative across offices
The takeaways are:
1. GenAI Enables Strategic Focus in Project Management
2. Develop of new capabilities for the Project Manager role improves adoption
3. Integrating GenAI Across the Project Lifecycle creates measurable value
